Tingsryds Kyrka!

Tingsryds Church!
Yesterday on my run by the lake I decided to take a different route home so I could stop at the church in Tingsryd, and take pictures!

However I searched high and low for information on this church and there wasn't anything I could find :(

Update!! I found out information on the Church thanks to journalist at Smålandsposten, Oskar Tinggren! :)

The current church, Tingsås Kyrka, was erected in 1853 based on the drawings by Johan Fredrik Åboms. The church was inaugurated on Den Heliga Mikaels Dag (St. Michael's day) in 1856 by Bishop Christopher Isac Heurlin. Before the current stone church there was a large wooden church built in 1752, in replacement for the old wooden church that was first built on the site in 1590. A museum is set up in the attic space above the sacristy with older church furniture.

Inventories
- The current church organ was built in 1970 by Hammarbergs orgelbyggeri (Hammarberg's organ building) in Gothenburg. The earlier organ originates from 1865.
- In the tower hangs two bells. Lillklockan (Small bell) from 1595 is derived from the first church. Storklockan (big bell) from 1732 has been cast again after it ruptured by careless ringing.
- The altarpiece from 1885 is painted by Professor Bengt Nordenberg and the scene is The Transfiguration of Jesus.
- From the other church derives an altarpiece that has a place of honor in the current church.
At the western side wall stands a grandfather clock donated in 1778 to the church.

It's a very pretty church with a neoclassical design.

About the church garden!

Love this light fixture and the light gray doors!

Its pink inside!

Most churches in Europe have the graveyards right outside in the gardens surrounding them.

Swedish Word of the Day!
Korsa (pronounced "kor-sha") meaning Cross

PEACE & LOVE,
